Five Steps for Flawless Skin!

April 27th, 2022

Radiant skin gives confidence!  Doing your skincare is an act of self care and self love!  Make it a beautiful ritual.  Teach your children, get them in the habit of cleansing and moisturizing.  Mask together.  Summary:  Cleanse 2x, Hydrating Mist, Serums, Hydration Mask option or skip and Eye Cream, Moisturizer, and SPF

Let’s Start with Cleanser

We all know cleansing is the first thing, and to use cool to lukewarm water.  Apply cleanser, massage thoroughly, and even allow it to sit on your skin a minute, rinse and pat dry.  If you are removing heavy makeup, you may want to do two cleanses.  Don’t forget neck and decolletage!

I personally love to put Osmosis Lift Away Cleansing Balm on and then jump in the shower, massaging it in and using it as a hydration mask also. I use an amount close to a quarter size.  It makes my dry skin happy.

If you use Osmosis Purify, you will definitely need this cleanser to sit on your skin to do it’s job, which is to break up dead skin cells.  Massaging it in helps the action.  A pearl size amount is all you need, it has a lot of frothiness.  Pro Tip:  Add a small amount of Polish Exfoliating Mask for extra brightening and exfoliation.

How to Tone Just Right

Next is your toner or mist.  I never recommend one that is acid, your best bet no matter your skin type is hydration.  Make sure you feel it on your skin, so it may take 5-6 pumps, including neck and decolletage.

My Secrets to Serums

Serums are next.  I use 2-3 every morning and night – Osmosis Renew, Replenish and Catalyst AC11 are my go-to serums.  With any serums, apply thinnest to thickest.  But as you know you can mix Osmosis thick serums (Renew, Clarify, Correct, Catalyst) together and then apply. However, if you are using Stemfactor and Rescue, apply those first, separately.   Don’t forget neck and decolletage.  Massage them in by hand or with Epic tool before adding the next one or next group.  Use your mist if you need to, just make sure it no longer feels tacky.  Spend a few minutes with this step, you are so worth it.

Masking for Extra Benefits

If you are feeling like doing extra credit, let’s mask!!!  A mask could be 5-7 pumps of Catalyst for some extra brightening.  Tropical Mango Mask heals the soul with its addicting, yummy all natural scent of mangos.  Remedy Healing Balm with it’s wild cherry bark healing properties and scent is great for healing parched skin or for holistic slugging.  Polish is also a great choice when we need a little extra exfoliation, a little brightening – that yummy Cranberry Scent is just amazing, however with Polish, we would want to do it prior to serums.  Hydrating masks and balms push serums into the skin further, so no need to worry.  Either leave on all night or rinse off after 10-15 minutes.  If leaving on all night, skip the rest of these steps.

The Eyes Have It!

For age reversal, or prevention, use a tiny amount of Catalyst AC 11 right on your lids.  Finish with Illuminate for a hydrating and plumping eye cream.  Dot a pearl sized amount of Illuminate on the inside tips of your orbital bone, lightly pat in.  Use a pearl size amount for around and on your lips for all night or all day conditioning.  I also love Sorella’s Avocado Lip Treatment for lips – super hydrating.

Moisturizers 101

Finally we come to the moisturizers.  I am in LOVE with facial oils!  Osmosis Nourish and Immerse feel AMAZING!!!  Layer on first or put a drop in your moisturizer.  I love Enrich for night time and Hydrate for day.  Feels so amazing!

Sun Protection

Last, but not least, in the morning, we need sunscreen.   I use Osmosis Protect, zinc oxide, 30 spf and it works well, even when I’m outside.   Sometimes, zinc oxide can leave a white film.  To prevent this, we need to warm it in our hands for a moment.  Apply to forehead, cheeks, chin, neck and decolletage.  Massage in until you can no longer see the white.

I live for all things skincare, never hesitate to ask me questions to get your routine just right!

Sanitas Peptiderm Skin Care

February 21st, 2017

While Vitamin C is still quite the queen of anti-aging, I’ll christen Peptides the King. Just what are peptides and how do they help your skin?

Peptides are chains of amino acids that are the building blocks of proteins in the skin. When peptides form a long chain of amino acids, they become proteins. When they are in a short chain of amino acids, they are able to penetrate the top layer of our skin and send signals to our cells to let them know how to function.

One important protein in our skin is collagen. Collagen gives our skin its thickness and firmness. When collagen breaks down in the skin (from age and environmental factors like the sun and stress and glycation), wrinkles form. Peptides applied topically to the skin can send a signal to collagen to prompt the formation of new collagen, and therefore you will have the appearance of more youthful, supple skin.

There are many types of peptides that also relax facial muscles (yes, like BOTOX), Acetyl Hexapeptide-8. All three of Sanitas Peptiderm products contain four peptides, including Acetyl Hexapeptide-8.

Oftentimes, peptide products take 4-12 weeks to give results…not the case with Sanitas Peptiderm products. Results are often noticeable in the first application, and definitely within a few days of usage, probably because they contain 40% in the serum and moisturizer and 50% concentration of peptides in the eye treatment.

The products also contain other amazing ingredients which contribute to your skin’s health and improve skin such as ceramides. The ceramides used are skin identical lipid molecules that are found in high concentrations within cell membranes. In the top layer of the skin, ceramides hold skin cells together, forming a protective layer that plumps the skin and retains moisture. (Think of skin cells as the bricks and ceramides as the mortar.)

Perfluorodecalin is an ingredient of the Peptiderm Moisturizing Cream. PFD is an oxygen infusing system that restores skin radiance and diminishes fine lines. This cream gives an absolutely stunning, translucent quality to skin.

How to use them. I love using all 3 to drench my super dry skin! However, for oily skin and combination, I suggest the Peptiderm Eye Treatment for around the eye and lip area, and the Peptiderm Anti-Aging Serum for the whole face, under the Balancing Moisturizer or Oil Free Moisurizer, perhaps only using the Peptiderm Moisturizer for night.

Anti-Aging Skin Care Part 2

Let’s talk serious Anti-Aging and looking your most RADIANT!!! Whether you are getting BOTOX and fillers or NOT, the benefits of using peptides, retinols, hyaluronic acid, antioxidants and LED.  All of them!  Yes, this is a winning combination!  It’s really really good with the gentle, Vitamin C filled Lemon Cream Scrub!  Why?

Hands-down the best treatment for your money is the LED. LED gently stimulates fibroblasts and reduces inflammation. So basically, it brightens, tightens, smooths and lifts. A 30 minute treatment, once a week will do wonders for your skin and even treat the eye area. It’s a great Lunch-time treatment and the price is only $40. You can also add it to a massage or reflexology treatment to make the most of your time.

If you do not have time to come in for weekly treatments, then you could use the brightening peel pads, for a DIY peel that does not leave you red and with skin hanging off, it’s gentle but very effective for smoothing and brightening the skin. It is a mix of all 3 of my fav acids – lactic, glycolic and salicylic. Wipe it on after cleansing and toning, then add the Cranberry Enzyme Mask for 10 minutes while you steam in the shower, for max effects. Perfect for a great date-night pick-me-up and

If eyes and or neck are your trouble spots and you cannot get in for regular LED treatments, using the retinol (Rejuven-A) will increase your cell turnover rate (rate at which you naturally exfoliate) and even though it is not placed in the eye area, it helps regenerate collagen and elastin by stimulating the skin’s fibroblasts all over, including the eye and neck area. Couple this with the hyaluronic serum and the peptiderm eye treatment and you will get amazing results.

Peptides are an anti-aging favorite, they work because they relax muscular contraction, plump, and they also stimulate fibroblasts to make more collagen and elastin.

Hyaluronic Acid is also part of the winning combination of the anti-aging equation.  It is a part of your skin and adds hydration, more plumping and helps the peptides and retinol work even better.

Normal pricing is $160/Peptiderm Anti-Aging Serum, $68/Peptiderm Eye Treatment, $135/Peptiderm Moisturizer, $59/Rejuven-A (retinol), and $68/Hyaluronic Concentrate. LED treatments are $40 each.

I know what you are thinking, WHY are the Peptides so expensive?  Let’s compare:  Olay Regenerist at $19.99 contains 1% peptides.  Sanitas Peptiderm Eye Treatment is 50% peptides for just $68.  Let’s do the math, if you wanted the same concentration of peptides and you purchased it from Olay, it would cost you $999 🙂 And try putting it on every 5 minutes to get the effects.  MESSY, RIDICULOUS!

I want you to receive the maximum anti-aging benefits, especially now before the holidays, so that you are READY to FACE all those holiday parties, relatives and family pictures and drunk selfies.
So, start your LED facials NOW, and let me help you get on a program to look your best ever for now and 2016!

Samples are limited, but if there is anything you want to try out, please don’t be shy, I am happy to help! Questions, please don’t hesitate!

Anti-Aging Skin Care Part 1

October 18th, 2015

Can you guess what the best anti-aging product is out there?  There is one product that is an absolute must no matter what else you may be doing for your skin, and we need it YEAR ROUND…Sun Block!

But today, I want to talk about Retinols (over the counter) and Retin-A products prescribed by a dermatologist for anti-aging or acne or both!

Prescription Retinoids were originally FDA approved for fighting acne.  The way it works is by restoring the organization of cells through cellular turnover in the epidermis so that they are less likely to fall into the pores and become food for P. Acne bacteria, so to reduce breakouts!

Years later, it was discovered to retexturize, smooth, reduce pore size and smooth the skin’s surface. It’s good for skin types who get closed comedones (whiteheads), open comedones (blackheads).

But it will adversely affect red, sore, inflamed acne (called papules and pustules), especially in sensitive skin types.

To use (if your dermatologist does not give you instructions: You MUST use sun protection – hats, sunscreen (reapplied every 4 hours in full sun)

Sanitas Rejuven-A   (a retinol) is a type of vitamin A that belongs to the family of retinoid chemical compounds. As long as the formula is stable (keeping it out of light, away from heat and time-released), it encourages repair to smooth the texture of the skin.

For anyone wanting to use a Retinol, I have 2 wonderful products.  One is Rejuven-A, it is milder, contains loads of other anti-aging ingredient like peptides and COQ10.  It can be used every night and should be used after cleansing.  It comes on like a cream and is so simple to use. It really helped heal my skin of tiny little milia under my eyes and the dry, crepey wrinkles on my cheeks to fight aging (anti-aging)

After using a bottle, should take you a couple of months, give your skin a one month break from it, then if you want something stronger, I have a Retinol Resurfacing Treatment, which is used 3x a week.  Once that bottle is gone, give your skin a break.  Also, available is a Retinol Peel, which we can use every two weeks, but this is an in-office treatment.

Still have questions as to what is right for you to begin a skin care regime that includes anti-aging?  Call today to set up an appointment for a skin care consultation.

See you soon!
